From Finger to Swipe

The glass does not feel pressure in the ordinary sense. Your finger changes an electric field, and nearby electrodes register the resulting capacitance shift.

Under the glass, transparent electrodes form intersecting rows and columns. In mutual capacitance, a finger generally reduces their coupling by diverting the electric field.

The controller scans the grid by driving X lines and reading Y lines, then compares each measurement with a baseline to calculate the changed touch coordinates.

Coordinates become a time series. Software tracks each touch point and its movement, then recognizes a swipe. That invisible electrical event becomes a visible command.
