Terafab: Tesla, SpaceX, and Intel’s planned chip factory

Terafab

Terafab is a planned, vertically integrated semiconductor manufacturing facility jointly developed by Tesla, SpaceX, and Intel[1][2]. Designed to produce over one terawatt of artificial intelligence compute capacity annually[3], the facility aims to combine logic, memory production, advanced packaging, and testing under one roof[4][5].

The full-scale complex is planned for Grimes County, Texas[6][7], with initial prototype operations focused near Tesla's Gigafactory Texas in Austin[8]. Elon Musk announced the project to supply specialized chips for edge inference in Tesla vehicles and Optimus robots, as well as high-power processors for space-based AI data centers[9][10].
