That same echo circles him as the Spider slips, the Web sagging into mud.
Robert the Bruce frowns, jaw set, expecting the tiny creature to quit.
Instead, the Spider climbs back, legs trembling, and anchors a new thread bravely.
The Web shivers, and his breath slows with the hush of falling rain.
Many Attempts
In the wet gloom, patience settles as drip after drip marks each trial.
The Spider misses again, dangling upside down, but claws back toward the Web.
Robert the Bruce leans closer, brows knit, mouthing silent counts with every attempt.
A final droplet lands on his sleeve, steady as a drumbeat of resolve.
The Span Holds
Guided by that drumbeat, the Spider leaps wide and catches the far rock.

The Dragon Palace rises from coral gardens, gates opening before Princess Otohime.
Shell music echoes through halls, leading them toward lantern glow and marvels.
Pearl Banquet
Lantern glow bathes Princess Otohime as she welcomes Urashima Tarō warmly.
He feasts and watches dancers as time loosens, and the Dragon Palace comforts.
Longing for shore, Princess Otohime gives a tamatebako and warns never to open it.
The tamatebako hums like tide in his hands as currents lift him.
A Changed Shore
The same humming tide lingers as he surfaces, clutching the tamatebako tight.
Huts have faded to dust, names are forgotten, and the harbor holds strangers.
Urashima Tarō calls for family, but only wind answers across stones.
From the tamatebako, a warm breath of sea smoke touches his cheek.

That sea smoke curls around trembling fingers as he lifts the tamatebako lid.

Between lanterns, Bamboo Cutter watches Kaguya smile sadly, while the Moon hides behind clouds.

A hush like drifting clouds fades as the Emperor arrives to see Kaguya.
He admires her grace, yet Kaguya speaks of the Moon and a distant home.

The Sewing Needle rides at his hip, bright as a sunbeam.
Water slaps the bowl, and distant market drums begin to thrum.
Crowd and Current
Drums boom nearby, and the River tightens beside a busy market.
People tower over Issun-bōshi, their sandals thudding as he paddles past.
A cart sends a wave, and the Rice Bowl wobbles hard.
The Sewing Needle glints, catching light like a promise before the bend.
The First Passage
That quick glint steadies him as the River opens beyond the bend.
