Why was the Lime Light named that?

title: 'A ROMAN PHAROS. (From a Medal in the D'Estrtes' Collection.}'

The 'lime-light' was named after Lieutenant Thomas Drummond, who invented it[1]. The light is produced 'by the combustion of oxygen and hydrogen on a surface of lime'[1]. It was tested at the South Foreland, but didn't yield encouraging results[1].

The text mentions that the name came from Bude in Cornwall, the inventor's residence, but that is in reference to the 'Bude light,' not the 'lime light'[1].
