But jealous Set watched the crowded feast with a smile that never reached his eyes.

The Just King

Set's smile gleamed again beside a polished chest built to fit one body.

When Osiris stepped inside as a joke, the lid slammed shut.

Set sealed the chest and sent it rocking into the dark Nile.

The Trap

The Nile kept moving, and Isis followed its whisper from shore to shore.

At last Isis found the still king, and careful hands wrapped him in clean linen.

In that silent work, death became ritual, and Osiris became the first mummy.

The Search

From the tomb's stillness, Isis drew one brief breath of magic and stirred new life.

Isis hid Horus in the reed marshes, far from the reach of the throne.

Years passed, and Horus grew into a hawk-eyed challenger.

The Hidden Heir

The challenge shook heaven, and Horus met Set in contests of strength and law.

When the tribunal chose Horus, the throne rose back into the light.
