Historically grounded original fiction. A harbor worker raises a cloth signal as the last vessel approaches in failing light. One gesture connects the ship to the breakwater, mooring crews, cargo route, and wind across the basin. The people and decision are invented, and surviving evidence does not document this exact signal. The scene instead treats a Classical harbor as an engineered workplace whose ships depended on protected water, slipways, roofed sheds, timber structures, ropes, and coordinated labor. From the evidence: excavated sloping ramps divided by columns at Piraeus support the shipshed vocabulary; the timing, characters, vessel, and signal remain imaginative.
