Tablet Posture: Five Parent Alerts

A clinic study associated sustained flexed device posture with neck pain, but did not prove tablets caused it.

The children studied were already seeking care for nonspecific neck pain, so findings may not represent all tablet users.

Neck, back, or shoulder pain, a rounded upper back, or raised shoulders may signal that the setup needs adjustment.

Place the tablet on a table, just below eye level, with feet supported and thighs fully supported.

Change position about every 20 minutes when practical; even a brief 10-second stand can help.
