new records in utility-scale battery deployments

The US battery storage market shattered deployment records across all segments in Q4 2023 – a 100% increase from the previous quarter.

U.S. energy storage market saw record growth in the third quarter with 3,806 megawatts (MW) worth installations and 9,931 megawatt-hours (MWh) deployed, Wood Mackenzie said in a re...

US installed base of utility-scale BESS increased by 80% in 2022, as the industry had a record-breaking year.

The energy storage sector is having its best year but “it will be difficult to keep this pace,” said Nina Rangel, senior research analyst at Wood Mackenzie.

Developers plan to install 15GW of utility-scale battery storage this year, adding to about 16GW installed so far.

A little under 6GWh of grid-scale BESS was approved for construction in the UK last month, bringing the total consented to nearly 130GWh.

The U.S. Energy Information Administration published its Short Term Energy Outlook on Tuesday, forecasting rapid growth in battery storage and a decline in gas-fired generation.

Arizona utility Salt River Project has signed agreement for dispatch rights to 250MW/1,000MWh battery energy storage system (BESS) project.
