Motorola Project Maxwell: a wearable camera for contextual AI

Three Motorola Project Maxwell camera wearable prototypes held in a hand

NEWS · Concept retrospective · Revealed at CES 2026

Motorola’s Project Maxwell is a proof-of-concept wearable that combines cameras, microphones and AI assistance in a small object worn on the body. The company demonstrated it at CES 2026 as a way for an assistant to use what you see and hear when responding to a request.[1]

One proposed example is listening to a conference session and helping draft a LinkedIn post about it. The device is meant to connect context with actions across apps, rather than simply record a transcript. Lenovo continued to describe Maxwell as a concept in its later discussion of personal AI.[2][3]

The distinctive idea is a shared point of view. Availability, final specifications and dependable everyday behaviour remain open questions; Maxwell is not an announced shipping product.[4]

Razer AVA: an animated AI companion for your desk

NEWS · Announced hardware · H2 2026 target; checked 29 September 2026

Razer AVA gives an AI assistant a physical home: a cylindrical desktop device with a 5.5-inch animated character display, camera, microphones and speaker. Razer positions it as a companion for everyday tasks and gaming, with an avatar that reacts while you talk.[1]

The current product pages describe hardware reservations and a software beta, with hardware shipping estimated for the second half of 2026. PC Vision Mode requires a direct USB-C connection to a Windows PC. Razer calls the display holographic; the visible character remains inside a physical display unit.[2][3]

The interesting experiment is presence. A character beside the monitor could feel easier to address than another chat window, but it also adds a dedicated object and a PC dependency.

Bee: Amazon’s wearable memory gets a layer of actions

NEWS · Software evolution · Checked 29 September 2026

Bee’s wearable hardware is intentionally simple: a button to control recording and a green light that shows when it is active. Amazon describes the companion software as the part that turns conversations and selected personal context into useful memories, reminders and next steps.[1]

Its announced features include Voice Notes, Daily Insights and Actions, with examples such as preparing email drafts and calendar invitations. The ambition is to move beyond a searchable transcript toward help after the conversation. These are software developments around an existing wearable, rather than a newly announced hardware generation.[2]

For this collection, Bee represents the small-button approach to AI. The real test is whether suggested actions save effort while leaving the wearer in control of what gets sent or scheduled.

Omi: a pendant that turns conversations into searchable memory

NEWS · Device profile · Available to order; checked 29 September 2026

Omi is a wearable microphone built around an unusually simple promise: remember what was said and help you act on it. Its current product combines a small pendant with an app that offers conversation transcripts, summaries, extracted tasks and searchable personal memory.[1]

The company also promotes integrations with tools including Google Calendar, Notion and Zapier. That makes the software connections as important as the object around your neck: a useful reminder needs somewhere to go after a conversation ends. A free plan is available, with paid options for additional usage.[2]

The design question is social as much as technical. A memory device needs an understandable recording routine, while its summaries must distinguish a passing suggestion from a real commitment.

Comu Action Pro: a recorder with an AI action button

NEWS · Device profile · Available to order; checked 29 September 2026

Comu Action Pro puts a small OLED screen and a dedicated AI button on a card-shaped recorder. Comu sells it as a way to turn recorded meetings and spoken ideas into transcripts, summaries and editable work such as document, presentation and email drafts.[1]

The physical interface is unusually direct: a recording control, a visible timer and a separate button for requesting AI processing. A magnetic attachment supports phone use, while USB-C handles charging. Comu offers basic transcription and summaries alongside paid plans for more advanced services.[2]

The useful distinction is capture versus follow-through. The hardware may make recording easier, but generated tasks and drafts still need checking before they become someone’s actual work.

SwitchBot AI MindClip: a tiny clip for unfinished promises

SwitchBot AI MindClip wearable recorder and clip accessory

NEWS · Available · Launched 3 September 2026

SwitchBot introduced AI MindClip at IFA 2026 as a wearable recorder for ideas, conversations and commitments. The company says the 16.8-gram device can turn captured audio into transcripts, summaries and to-dos, then make those recordings searchable through an AI memory feature.[1][2]

Its clip is the important design move: it attaches to clothing or a bag, bringing the microphone closer to daily conversations without putting another screen in your hand. Processing and reviewing the results happen through SwitchBot’s accompanying software, with service plans attached to the AI features.[3]

This is a practical alternative to the ambitious all-purpose AI pin: one small object for remembering. Its value depends on whether extracted commitments stay accurate and easy to find.

VONDER: AI glasses without a camera or display

Black VONDER intelligent eyeglasses with acetate frames

NEWS · Preorder · Announced 22 September 2026

VONDER is taking preorders for intelligent eyewear that deliberately leaves out cameras and displays. The company says its prescription-compatible frames combine open-ear audio with a voice assistant and a “Memory Graph” for recalling information you choose to capture. Preorders opened on 28 September, with shipping planned for November.[1]

The design starts with familiar acetate glasses rather than a visible gadget attached to your face. Asking questions, listening and remembering are the proposed interface; there is no screen to glance at or camera to identify what you are seeing.[2]

The interesting bet is whether audio and useful personal memory are enough. Shipping and everyday performance remain unverified here.
