Enrolment
Enrolment of male students at primary level is reported as 1.580 million in 2010-11
compared with 1.934 million in 2020-21, while female enrolment at primary level is reported as 1.196 million
in 2010-11, while in 2020-21 it is reported as 1.609 million which shows positive trend over time for both
male and female enrollment rates. Likewise middle school enrolment for both males and females is
indicating upward trajectory positive trend is observed at high and intermediate while negative trend is
observed at degree level enrolment for both males and females.

There are 182,295 teachers employed in public sector in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa at district
levels during 2020-21, among these 36.36% are women while 63.64% are men. There are 51.46% more
teachers in 2020-21 as compared to 2010-11. There are more male teachers as compared to women at
every level (Table 4.3). Parity indices has improved over time for all levels: for primary level it is (0.58 in
2020-21 vs. 0.56 in 2010-11), for middle (0.71 in 2020-21 vs 0.58 in 2010-11), for high (0.5 in 2020-21 vs
0.35 in 2010-11), for higher secondary (0.49 in 2020-21 vs 0.41 in 2010-11) for degree classes (0.71 in
2020-21 vs 0.46 in 2010-11).
