Yamaha P-145BT, Casio PX-S1100 and Roland FP-10 are compact digital pianos rather than toy keyboards. The 2026 beginner-piano guide weighs key feel, sound and practical setup; the best instrument is the one you enjoy practicing on regularly.

What to check before buying
Try the weighted keys in person if possible. Yamaha's P-145BT adds wireless connectivity, Casio's slim body is useful in a tight room, and Roland's FP-10 is a familiar first-piano format. Price a stable stand, bench, headphones and a better pedal if the included accessories are basic.
A piano may be portable in a catalogue yet awkward to move daily. Check its dimensions and weight where it will live, and avoid choosing by the number of extra instrument voices alone.
