Before land, Izanagi and Izanami stood over the endless sea.
They lowered the Jeweled Spear and stirred the deep, patient waters.
Drops fell and gathered, and the first island rose from foam.
Salt wind carried their vow toward a bright wedding flame.
Vows and Births
The same salt wind rustled robes as drums marked Izanagi and Izanami's vows.
Following sacred steps, they welcomed islands and gods, their laughter warm and steady.
Joy dimmed when Kagutsuchi arrived in searing pain, and Izanami collapsed.
Ash tasted bitter on Izanagi's tongue as torches guttered in the night.
Into Yomi
That ash hung heavy as Izanagi entered Yomi to find Izanami.
Shadows clung to walls, and his steps echoed like stones dropped in wells.
He found Izanami decayed, eyes hollow, and grief shocked him to silence.
Cold air rushed behind him as he fled, heart pounding toward a sealed gate.
Sealed Realms
The pounding faded to wind as Izanagi heaved a boulder across Yomi's mouth.
Stone thudded into place, and darkness withdrew like tide before dawn.
On opposite sides, Izanagi faced daylight, and Izanami watched shadows gather.
They parted their realms, with Izanagi keeping the living and Izanami ruling the dead.

From behind stone, muffled drums slowly stir the dark like a restless heartbeat.
The Gathering of the Gods
The muffled drums swell outside the Heavenly Rock Cave, answering the harm Susanoo left behind.
Ame-no-Uzume climbs a barrel and dances bold, hips rolling, eyes bright with mischief.
The gods lift a Mirror and Sacred Jewels, catching stray glimmers from Ame-no-Uzume's laughter.
The Peek of the Sun
Laughter and drums echo into the Heavenly Rock Cave, and Amaterasu slowly shifts toward the entrance.
She peeks out, curious, as the Mirror flashes and Sacred Jewels glow like morning.
Outside, Ame-no-Uzume laughs louder, and the gods cheer beneath the opening glow of dawn.
Light Returns
Warm light spills across the valley as Amaterasu steps from the Heavenly Rock Cave.
Faces lift to the sky, and Ame-no-Uzume bows, breath quick, eyes shining with relief.
Amaterasu meets the Mirror, sees her radiance, and the world answers with color and birdsong.

The sweet trace of sake guides Susanoo to the waiting Sake Vats.
Kushinada-hime hides nearby, fingers tight, eyes steady on Susanoo, face calm.
He fills each great bowl to the brim and sets torches to shimmer.
From the dark river comes a deep hiss, like stones cracking.
The Serpent Drinks
That hiss swells as Yamata no Orochi rises, scales wet with moonlight.
Eight heads bow to the Sake Vats, tongues tasting, eyes burning for more.
The beast drinks deep, sways heavy, and loosens its many jaws.
The torches flutter, and Susanoo hears the pause before violence.
Strike and Sever
In the torch hush, Susanoo steps in and raises his blade.
He hews one drunken head, then another, as Kushinada-hime watches, unblinking.
Yamata no Orochi thrashes, blood dark on river stones, until silence answers.
At the last stroke, his blade jars on a hidden weight.
Kusanagi Revealed
He cuts the tail and draws Kusanagi, its edge clean as frost.
Susanoo lifts Kusanagi toward Kushinada-hime, relief and trust passing between them.
In Izumo, the river quiets, and the sword's name begins its long journey.

The air smells of oats, and a warm Porridge Bowl waits by lamplight.
The Custom of Thanks
Steam curls from the Porridge Bowl, carrying oats and hope through the Farmhouse.
The Tomte expects a Butter Pat on top, bright proof that work matters.
Tonight, the surface looks plain, and his small face tightens like frost.
Hidden Butter, Hot Temper
His breath fogs the Porridge Bowl, and no Butter Pat greets the eye.
Insult burns him fierce, and the Tomte stomps toward the Barn in wrath.
The Best Cow lows once, a tremor under hooves, as lanterns rattle.
Mischief and Regret
Wind roars past the Barn, and the Best Cow lies still and silent.
Back in the kitchen, the Tomte lifts the spoon and finds Butter Pat hidden.
Shame pricks him like sleet, and he hurries out into the snow.
Atonement and a Warning
Before dawn, the Tomte leads a matching cow into the Barn without words.
He sets the Porridge Bowl again, and the Butter Pat gleams on top.
Respect keeps peace here, and he will always check the top first.

Kara sees the Vittra gathered by the Vittrerstig, their heads tilted in silence.
Einar steps close and murmurs in the hush, 'Move the Shed off their road'.
Making Amends
With frost in the grass, Kara lifts the posts and slides the Shed aside.
She leaves the Vittrerstig clear, and the foundation lines rest without strain.

Morning smells of pine sap, and light touches the open Vittrerstig.
Kara sets a small bowl of milk by the line, and Einar nods.
