A glowworm uses its light as a fishing lure
That tiny blue light is a trap. New Zealand glowworms are gnat larvae. They hang sticky silk lines beneath their bodies and use their glow to lure flying insects into them. What looks like a miniature starry sky is a ceiling full of fishing lines.
