Omega: The Last Days of the World - Story Book

The last man heard a heartbeat.

Omegar wandered beneath frozen glass roofs, where every machine outlived its maker.

Two old scholars lay silent, and their unfinished work slipped from cold hands.

Outside, the yellow sun crossed a sea-green sky above a world stripped of rivers and voices.

Across the dead world, Eva kept watch beside her mother under another fading dome.

She closed her eyes and searched the silence with humanity's last psychic gift.

Her thought crossed the frozen ocean and entered Omegar's sleep as a garden.

When he woke, one certainty remained.

Someone beyond the ice was calling.

That silent call pulled Omegar toward the abandoned airship platform.

The Last Airship still waited there, trembling under frost and weak solar power.

He crossed the lifeless world beneath him, following Eva's presence instead of any map.

The craft descended through a cracked dome, and Eva fled behind a heavy curtain.

Omegar found her in the library, then stopped with both hands open.

Their eyes met across the ruins.

Neither had seen another living stranger.

Beside Eva, her mother opened her eyes and raised one shaking hand toward Jupiter.

Her faint voice promised that humanity's light had moved beyond this world.

Then her hand fell still.

Omegar and Eva stood together as Jupiter brightened beyond the glass.

Jupiter stayed above them as the city's last water channels went silent.

Omegar repaired pumps while Eva saved each drop in a silver cup.

The ancient machines failed one by one.

They launched the Last Airship and searched the equator for one living oasis.

Frozen rivers traced pale lines below, but every lake was stone.

The Last Airship settled beside an ancient pyramid.

Omegar held Eva as cold entered the ruined chamber.

Everything had vanished except the warmth they gave each other.

Cheops rose luminous from the pyramid shadows.

Cheops promised that no life was wasted and no love ended alone.

Their hands tightened as their breathing softened.

Two small lights rose together toward Jupiter.

The earth kept its ruins, but love carried humanity's final story into the stars.
