Where are totally reflecting prisms used?

Fresnel used totally reflecting prisms to construct optical agents^[1]. These prisms are used in optical combinations like catadioptric fixed lights^[1]. They are also employed in lighthouse illumination^[1].

Totally reflecting prisms are also applicable to a revolving light where there is a central burner^[1]. The prisms can be generated round either a vertical or horizontal axis, or may be made straight^[1].
