A high match rate can still mislead
A high record-match rate does not guarantee an unbiased dataset. If matching errors cluster across variables or groups, the rate alone cannot reveal the direction or size of bias. Some groups may be harder to link than others. Their records can be underrepresented in the linked data, distorting comparisons even when the overall match rate is high.
