What is a Pintsch gas buoy?

title: 'Technical diagram of a mechanical component.'

A Pintsch gas-illuminated buoy is an ordinary buoy, made of wrought-iron plates, with a capacity of about 60 feet[1]. It is gas and watertight and can withstand a pressure of 90 lbs on the square inch[1]. A pipe leads from the top of the buoy to a lantern, about 12 feet above the water, containing a gas burner surrounded by a small, fixed light apparatus[1]. A Pintsch regulator keeps a constant pressure on the jet, and the buoy holds about four months' supply of gas[1]. To charge it, a boat comes alongside with a reservoir of compressed oil-gas[1]. The cost of the light is stated to be from 3d to 6d per twenty-four hours[1].
