Ever wonder how lighthouses came to be? Well, in the old days, before sophisticated technology, the first signals were just huge fires blazing on headlands. But keeping those fires going in stormy weather was a challenge! That's why they started building structures to shelter them. And get this, the ancient Greeks thought the demigod Hercules was the mastermind behind lighthouses! Can you imagine Hercules building a lighthouse? Also, did you know the mighty tower elevated on the island of Pharos, at Alexandria, served as a model for some of the most celebrated lighthouses erected in later times! Here’s a question to consider: With all the modern technology we have now, what will lighthouses look like in the future?
