The One-Meal Cooking Reset
Transcription
Purchased meals are convenient, but they can cost more than cooking at home. And after a long day, cooking can feel like one more job. Try a smaller approach: choose one repeatable meal for this week, something you would genuinely eat again. Before shopping, check your fridge, freezer, and pantry. Ask whether each ingredient has a clear use, and avoid buying a large quantity just because it looks like a bargain. Plan the ingredients across two meals, or set aside a portion for a leftover night. That gives extra food or partial ingredients somewhere to go instead of letting them become waste. Home cooking may cost less than eating out or buying pre-made meals, and it may also support health. Keep the safety basics in place: check use-by dates, wash your hands, keep raw meat and fish separate from ready-to-eat food, and cook food until it is piping hot throughout. Cool leftovers quickly, refrigerate them within two hours, and eat them within two days. Your experiment this week is simple: cook one repeatable meal, plan its second use, and notice whether dinner feels easier, not perfect.
