Timeless slapstick highlights from Laurel and Hardy in Night Owls

The worst advice a police officer could take

After the police chief threatens Officer Kennedy with termination over a crime wave, a snide remark from a colleague inspires an outrageous scheme to fake an arrest.

When a Desperate Cop Decides to Frame a Crime

Officer Kennedy discovers Stan and Ollie sleeping in the park and coerces them into robbing the police chief's home so he can look like a hero.

The Most Absurd Deal in Comedy History

Officer Kennedy reminds Stan and Ollie to sneak in quietly right before taking a comically disastrous tumble into dozens of metal trash cans.

Rule Number One: Be as Quiet as You Can

While attempting to silently scale an alley wall, Stan's sneeze and an unstable trash can trigger an avalanche of clattering metal.

How Not to Scale a Wall

When your stealth plan is meowing like a cat

While hiding in the bushes outside a bedroom window, the duo decides to mimic screeching cats to avoid detection. Their caterwauling only provokes a barrage of flying shoes from the irritated homeowner.

Pretending to Be Alley Cats

When your partner ruins the entire mission

Hardy angrily confronts Laurel after getting locked out of the house once more. Laurel innocently blames the wind, forcing the bumbling pair to head back toward the window.

The Front Door Blew Shut

After Laurel accidentally locks Hardy outside, Hardy aggressively works a crowbar on the front door lock. Exhausted from his efforts, he turns to see Laurel casually opening the adjacent window to wave him inside.

Lockpicking While the Window Is Open

When your partner forgets how windows work

Oliver Hardy sends Stan Laurel to fetch a hammer to force open a window, only for Stan to casually unlock and open that exact window from the inside.

Breaking into an Open Window

The loudest quiet heist in cinematic history

Right after warning Stan not to make a single sound, Oliver sits down on a weak bench that shatters, sending both thieves crashing into a grand piano draped with a bear rug.

Whatever You Do, Don't Make Any Noise

Everything that could go wrong went wrong

Attempting to hoist Oliver over an alley wall to escape the police, Stan yanks Oliver's pants off and immediately falls backwards into an empty metal trash can.
