Mount Everest: Earth’s highest mountain
Mount Everest is the highest mountain on Earth above sea level, located in the Mahalangur Himal sub-range of the Himalayas on the border between Nepal and the Tibet Autonomous Region of China[1][2]. Its elevation is 29,032 feet (8,849 meters)[3]. Locally, it is known as Sagarmāthā in Nepal and Qomolangma (or Chomolungma) in the Tibet Autonomous Region of China[4][5]. The first recorded people to reach the summit were Edmund Hillary and Tenzing Norgay in 1953[6]. Would you like to know more about the historical climbing routes on the mountain?
