Quantum coding interview practice: answer one question at a time

Q1. According to Microsoft Learn, which operation is used to create the equal-mixture superposition described in the tutorial?
- Hadamard H
- CNOT CX
- Measurement M
- Reset to |0>
Answer: Hadamard H
Q2. Which Qiskit-style snippet best matches the Bell-state construction described in the IBM learning material?
- qc.h(0); qc.cx(0, 1); qc.measure_all()
- qc.cx(0, 1); qc.h(0); qc.measure_all()
- qc.h(1); qc.cx(0, 1); qc.measure_all()
- qc.h(0); qc.cz(0, 1); qc.measure_all()
Answer: qc.h(0); qc.cx(0, 1); qc.measure_all()
Q3. The IBM material says repeated shots and measurement histograms help estimate what?
- The probability distribution from a quantum state
- The exact amplitude of every basis state without error
- The physical temperature of the qubits
- The compile time of the circuit
Answer: The probability distribution from a quantum state
Q4. What practical difference does the IBM material highlight when comparing simulator results with real IBM quantum device results?
- Noise and occasional non-ideal bitstrings
- The simulator always returns random classical bits
- The hardware never accepts measured outputs
- The simulator requires a quantum network connection
Answer: Noise and occasional non-ideal bitstrings
Q5. Which workflow step is called out before running a circuit through Sampler and QiskitRuntimeService on hardware?
- Transpile the circuit for hardware with a preset pass manager
- Skip transpilation and run the circuit directly on the device
- Replace all gates with measurements before submission
- Use only one shot so noise does not matter
Answer: Transpile the circuit for hardware with a preset pass manager
Q6. In the stored proposed practice rubric, which dimension is weighted 30 points, and the rubric is described as a practice rubric rather than a universal industry standard?
- Quantum concepts
- Circuit/programming correctness
- Reasoning and debugging
- Hardware/software engineering awareness
Answer: Circuit/programming correctness
Q7. In the stored proposed practice rubric, which score band is described as a strong pass?
- 85-100
- 70-84
- 50-69
- Below 50
Answer: 85-100

50% chance of being measured as Zero or One
