  1. A snail eats with a rasp.

Inside its mouth, a ribbon of tiny teeth scrapes food from a surface. That ribbon is called a radula.

  2. A sawfly cuts a place for her eggs.

At the end of her abdomen, toothed blades cut plant tissue. Her egg-laying tool is called an ovipositor.

  3. A fly drinks with a sponge-like pad.

Two broad lobes at the end of its mouthparts collect liquid food. Tiny grooves guide the liquid inward.
