AI vision needs to help you aim the camera

NEWS · Announced, coming soon · 1 September 2026

Google has announced Guided vision in Gemini Live, developed with blind and low-vision communities. Alongside describing what the camera sees, it can offer spoken cues to reframe, pan or center an object when the view is not useful.[1]

That makes the interaction itself the story: someone reading a label needs help obtaining a usable picture before an AI answer can be helpful. Camera feedback belongs in the device experience.

The announcement lists Android 9 and later in supported Gemini countries and describes availability as coming soon. Google also says the feature can make mistakes and must not be used for navigation or obstacle detection. Real-world framing reliability remains the question.[2]
