The archive is incomplete, observant, and materially careful. Researchers are normally
implied through field traces, tools, plates, and specimen handling rather than made into
recurring protagonists. Organisms do not recur unless an editor deliberately promotes one
to canon.

## Truth boundary

Every organism, location, researcher, specimen record, quotation, date, and event is
