The retail trade index measures the monthly evolution of the turnover at current prices of enterprises with retail sale outlets. With effect from January 2013 the indices are calculated with reference to the base year 2010 using the Ateco 2007 classification (Italian edition of Nace Rev. 2). In March 2017 the seasonally adjusted retail trade index shows there was no growth when compared with February 2017 (-0.1% for food goods and 0.0% for non-food goods). The underlying trend remains one of growth with the 3 month on 3 month movement increasing by 0.7. The unadjusted value decreased by 0.4% on the year, as large scale distribution decreased by 1.1% and small scale distribution marks the first positive contribution since November 2016, increasing by 0.1.
