A documented path from television puppetry to the Creature Shop

Portrait editorial timeline with three milestones: Sam and Friends begins in 1955; The Dark Crystal is described as being in development for five years and bringing together designers, builders, technicians, and performers; and the Creature Shop is founded in 1979. A separate connector notes that staff from The Dark Crystal and Labyrinth formed the Shop’s basis. The accompanying illustrations are clearly original reconstructions, not archival images.
This original editorial reconstruction traces a documented path from Sam and Friends to the Creature Shop. Henson’s account says the staff who helped create The Dark Crystal and Labyrinth formed the basis for the Shop; it describes The Dark Crystal’s puppetry and animatronics as part of that story, rather than presenting a single-film, one-step cause.
